블레셋의 침공

• 1블레셋 사람들이 그들의 군대를 모으고 싸우고자 하여 유다에 속한 소고에 모여 소고와 아세가 사이의 에베스담밈에 진 치매
• 2사울과 이스라엘 사람들이 모여서 1)엘라 골짜기에 진 치고 블레셋 사람들을 대하여 전열을 벌였으니
• 3블레셋 사람들은 이쪽 산에 섰고 이스라엘은 저쪽 산에 섰고 그 사이에는 골짜기가 있었더라
• 4블레셋 사람들의 진영에서 싸움을 돋우는 자가 왔는데 그의 이름은 골리앗이요 가드 사람이라 그의 키는 여섯 2)규빗 한 뼘이요
• 5머리에는 놋 투구를 썼고 몸에는 비늘 갑옷을 입었으니 그 갑옷의 무게가 놋 오천 세겔이며
• 6그의 다리에는 놋 각반을 쳤고 어깨 사이에는 놋 단창을 메었으니
• 7그 창 자루는 베틀 채 같고 창 날은 철 육백 세겔이며 방패 든 자가 앞서 행하더라
• 8그가 서서 이스라엘 군대를 향하여 외쳐 이르되 너희가 어찌하여 나와서 전열을 벌였느냐 나는 블레셋 사람이 아니며 너희는 사울의 신복이 아니냐 너희는 한 사람을 택하여 내게로 내려보내라
• 9그가 나와 싸워서 나를 죽이면 우리가 너희의 종이 되겠고 만일 내가 이겨 그를 죽이면 너희가 우리의 종이 되어 우리를 섬길 것이니라
• 10그 블레셋 사람이 또 이르되 내가 오늘 이스라엘의 군대를 모욕하였으니 사람을 보내어 나와 더불어 싸우게 하라 한지라
• 11사울과 온 이스라엘이 블레셋 사람의 이 말을 듣고 놀라 크게 두려워하니라

• 1Now the Philistines gathered their forces for war and assembled at Sokoh in Judah. They pitched camp at Ephes Dammim, between Sokoh and Azekah.
• 2Saul and the Israelites assembled and camped in the Valley of Elah and drew up their battle line to meet the Philistines.
• 3The Philistines occupied one hill and the Israelites another, with the valley between them.
• 4A champion named Goliath, who was from Gath, came out of the Philistine camp. His height was six cubits and a span.
• 5He had a bronze helmet on his head and wore a coat of scale armor of bronze weighing five thousand shekels;
• 6on his legs he wore bronze greaves, and a bronze javelin was slung on his back.
• 7His spear shaft was like a weaver’s rod, and its iron point weighed six hundred shekels. His shield bearer went ahead of him.
• 8Goliath stood and shouted to the ranks of Israel, “Why do you come out and line up for battle? Am I not a Philistine, and are you not the servants of Saul? Choose a man and have him come down to me.
• 9If he is able to fight and kill me, we will become your subjects; but if I overcome him and kill him, you will become our subjects and serve us.”
• 10Then the Philistine said, “This day I defy the armies of Israel! Give me a man and let us fight each other.”
• 11On hearing the Philistine’s words, Saul and all the Israelites were dismayed and terrified.
